Tales from the Cutting Counter

A woman and her young granddaughter had me cut some plush fabric printed all over with pictures of Tinkerbelle. The fabric was for a bathrobe for the girl. "She was into the princesses," the grandmother explained. "But now it's fairies. Anything and everything fairies." I looked at the little girl, and asked "Do you know why fairies are better than princesses?" I intended to highlight the "being able to fly" feature of fairies. The 6-year old looked at me like I was an idiot. "Because they're real." she said, rolling her eyes.
